1. Kapalbhati Pranayama

Kapalbhati Pranayama is an easy yet effective breathing exercise. It is intended mainly for cleaning the sinuses. That’s why we included this Asana in our immunity increasing Yoga Asanas list.

Here’s how to perform Kapalbhati Pranayama:

  1. Comfortably sit (cross-legged position is preferred) and inhale deep.

  2. Exhale rapidly.

  3. The next passive/partial inhale will happen automatically due to rapid exhale.

  4. Repeat the process (Step 2 and 3) as per your convenience.

 

2. Anulom Vilom Pranayama

Anulom Vilom Pranayama, we draw breath from the right nostril, then exhale through the left nostril. Similarly, if you draw breath from the left nostril, then exhale through the right nostril. This Yoga Asana is a must in our immunity increasing Yoga Asanas list.
This Pranayama helps open up a blocked nose and increases the resistance of sinuses. This exercise helps you develop a habit of deep breathing, resulting in keeping you fit during monsoon when most infections and allergies enter our bodies through our lungs. 
Here’s how to do Anulom Vilom Pranayama:

  • Close the right nostril with your finger.
  • Breathe in from the left nostril by keeping your right nostril closed.
  • Then, close the left nostril with your finger & breathe out through the right nostril.
  • After that, breathe in from the right nostril keeping your left nostril closed.
  • Finally, close your right nostril & breathe out from your left nostril.
  • Repeat the process as per your convenience.

 

3. Naukasana

Naukasana also known as the Boat Pose is a seated Asana in yoga. This yoga posture has been named after the shape it takes – that of a boat. Nauka means Boat and Asana means Posture or Pose.

Here’s how to perform the Naukasana Yoga:

  1. Lie on your back with your feet together and arms beside your body.

  2. Take a deep breath in and as you exhale, lift your chest and feet off the ground, stretching your arms towards your feet.

  3. Your eyes, fingers and toes should be in a line.

  4. Feel the tension in your navel area as the abdominal muscles contract.

  5. Keep breathing deeply and easily while maintaining the pose.

  6. As you exhale, come back to the ground slowly and relax.

  7. Repeat the process as per your convenience.

This Asana is focused on strengthening the back and abdominal muscles. It tones the leg and arm muscles and is also useful for people with hernia.
