Top 5 Ways to Stay Active and Fit Over Christmas!

Top 5 Ways to Stay Active and Fit Over Christmas!

Based upon research, most individuals tend to acquire extra weight through the holidays - beginning with Diwali, Christmas, New Years and the wedding season.

Here are 5 ways to stay fit during the Festive Season!

1. Increase your step count

With the cold climate that accompanies this time of year, it’s easy to come up with excuses to stay comfortably inside the house. A nice walk in the colony, park or even around the house can be an effective way to keep active and use up some of that festive season fuel. One may consider waking up 30 minutes early with your activewear prepped the night before or finding that half an hour in between the day to take a walk.

2. Make social catch-ups energetic

Let’s face it, while the workout and diet side of our lives might take a rear seat, our social lives normally blow up during December. Rather than catching up for drinks or lunch at a café why not make the catch up more energetic, with a nice outdoor picnic in the park. Outdoor games like Frisbee, Kho Kho, 7 tiles, cricket, dog and the bone could be some good bonding activities too. They get the body blood flowing and keep one active.

3. Avoid Skipping Meals & Eat Before Heading Out

Don’t skip meals, especially breakfast! Even though it can be tempting to skip certain meals, believing that it will make up for the treats you consumed the previous day, avoid it as it will only lead to counter-productive results. It is best that you eat something before heading out to get togethers or parties. By doing so, you will not be tempted to overindulge yourself. Skipping meals is not a good idea either, because you may only end up eating more later.

4. Don’t Skip Your Strength Workouts

Performing strength training in order to maintain that muscle mass is a great activity.

5. Drink A Lot Of Water & Enjoy Yourself

Drinking water can satiate your appetite and help you keep hydrated at all times. It will also prevent a possible hangover if you overdo it with alcohol. One way to drink more water — and boost your health and reduce your calorie intake — is to replace other drinks, such as soda and sports drinks, with water. It’s an easy and cheap way to cut calories, potentially helping you lose weight.

Hope you have a fabulous festive season!
